Abstract

In this study, within the course of “Literary Knowledge and Theories II” students, from Mersin University, Education Faculty, Turkish Teaching Department, read Zülfü Livaneli’s novel “Huzursuzluk” and their views related to the novel were evaluated within the context of the Theory of Reception Aesthetics. By this way it is aimed to concretize the opportunities provided by the Theory of Reception Aesthetics to literature education and bring them up for discussion. The main purpose of the study is bringing, new searches for literature education in context with reception aesthetics, up for discussion on the basis of the students’ views. Document analysis method is used in this study in form of qualitative research. The sample is comprised of the students who are 1st graders of Mersin University, Education Faculty, Turkish Teaching program in 2018-2019 education year. The data was analysed in accordance with the steps of qualitative content analysis. In this research it is concluded that the readers pointed to thirty different uncertainties and fifteen different influences in the novel “Huzursuzluk”. In this study it is presented once more that reading a literary text is multiple comprehending even infinite comprehending process. It is considered that this research will provide the efforts of program development in literature education with horizon diversity.
