Abstract

Children's literature is a field that covers the oral and written works that appeal to children's imaginative worlds, help them learn while having fun and helping children to gain aesthetic value. Children can make a connection between the story they read and the real life through the heroes in these books. So, they can solve the problems in daily life more easily. Childhood period which is the target of children's literature, is a very important and critical process in the life of the individual. In the process that continues with the learning of literacy, the responsibilities of the many children increase gradually, and the basis of many skills and knowledge is learnt in this period. One of these skills and knowledge is the education of Maths. It is known that Maths is one of the most challenging lessons in our country. The fact that associating the education of Maths only with Maths courses causes this course not to be integrated with other fields. The aim of this study is to set an example of how Maths can be taught in accordance with the children's literature. In the study, document analysis has been used and "Saving the Queen" by Vladimir Tumanov was chosen as a sample. When the data and the studies on the subject were analysed, it was determined that Maths can be taught possible with the help of children's literature, and it was also determined that the works done for this purpose overcome the students' Maths anxiety. In addition, it can be stated that children might love Maths with the help of the teaching methods and techniques applied in Works; and accordingly they can be successful in Maths courses.
